What motivates me in my work is my deep love for handicraft, and my interest in learning and developing handiwork techniques through research. For me it is of primary importance that I am there at the “beginning”, in order to understand and influence the interconnections between materials, techniques, and ideas. Apart from the base fabric, itself, my collections are the result of me creating ideas, developing designs, printing, dying and painting the material, and then assembling the clothes. My collections are witness to my involvement from beginning to end. I optimize the basic procedures and techniques to suit my needs, and realize my ideas on fabric. “Unter den Linden” was my first lesson in just how long it takes, and how much attention is required to create a quality product that is also appealing. That lesson has being reinforced by my experiences with the other projects.
